Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight.

Tornado spotted in southern Nebraska

For the second week in a row, a November winter storm brought a tornado threat to parts of Nebraska on Monday.

At 7:51 p.m., a trained spotter reported a tornado 5 miles southwest of Stamford, near the Nebraska-Kansas border in Furnas County. There was no immediate indication of damage associated with the tornado, which was moving north.

Tornado warnings also covered Harlan, Phelps and Gosper counties.

Behind the line of thunderstorms, winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories covered all of western Nebraska. Up to 10 inches of snow is possible in those areas on Tuesday.

Employees fight fire at Tony’s Pizza plant, Minimal damage at Salina facility
Smoke coming from the Tony’s Pizza plant in Salina could be seen from miles away.

Some of you contacted Eyewitness News about it Sunday evening. Fortunately, the scene looked worse than it was. 

The Salina Fire Department says that by the time they pulled up, employees at the plant had all but extinguished the fire, which was in a stack on the roof of the plant. 

The plant was evacuated as a precaution. Fire investigators say damage is minimal.
