If you see a deer’s eyes shine in your headlights as you’re driving down the road some late evening, what should you do?
The answer might be easy for some drivers, but if you’re young or inexperienced behind the wheel and unfamiliar with rural areas, where most deer are found, the answer might not be that obvious.
“You should immediately slow down when you see deer close to the roadway,” said Fred Zwonechek, administrator of the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety
Nebraska drivers are 3.5 percent more likely to collide with a deer than they were last year, according to recent claims data from insurance company State Farm.
