The number of abortions performed in Nebraska has dropped by eight percent since 2010. The head of Nebraska Right to Life gives credit to new state laws restricting access to abortions, like the ban on the procedure after 20 weeks of gestation. A spokesperson for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland counters that the drop coincides with an overall drop in the birth rate and better access to different forms of birth control. The national abortion rate has dropped by 12 percent over the same three-year period.
